Connect the phone to the movies - without disrupting

Soon it may be out of stealth force with mobile phones inside the cinema. Phone that reads your lips, enabling them to avoid disturbing your bench mates.

German researchers at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology have developed a method to convert the lip movements of speech. It is based on so-called electromyography, which measures voltage changes when the muscle is working.

By thus measuring how the muscles move in your face, researchers can figure out what you're saying. That means you could talk on mobile phones, without actually saying anything.

The researchers will present their technology at CeBIT in Hannover for various applications. One of them is just to talk on the phone without sound. Another is to send confidential information to each other, such as passwords, but it can be intercepted
